The first round produced some exciting and hard fought chess and I’m also expecting great things in the second round today. In recent years games between members of the 2750+ club have tended to end in draws. Therfore it is to be expected that the tournament victor will be the player who amasses the biggest plus score against the other competitors, notably the Dutch representatives. Kasparov will surely be pressing hard for a win today against Fedorov, even with Black. Fedorov is a fine attacking player but on the other hand his enterprising play might just give the former World Champion the chance to show his tactical genius.
